He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2014, and taught Middle School English in Memphis, TN and Houston, TX. In order to increase his impact on student learning, he transitioned to Teaching Excellence to work as an Instructional Coach while simultaneously earning his master’s degree from The University of Houston (M.Ed., Administration and Supervision). David also served as an edTPA coordinator and a Content Test Specialist for the Technology Applications, ELAR 7-12, ELAR 4-8, and Core 4-8 exams.
David’s childhood experience in the public and private school systems of El Paso, TX sparked a passion for ensuring equity and access for marginalized communities. He seeks to improve student outcomes by expanding his impact and abilities, and by fostering environments where new teachers can learn and grow. CTAPP has provided him with an opportunity to improve student learning opportunities across Texas by improving the preparation of Novice Teachers.
Prior to his role as Director of Partnerships, David directly led transformation efforts with partners at Houston Community College and ACT Rio Grande Valley as a Manager of Content Development and Programming for CTAPP.
