The Center for Transforming Alternative Preparation Pathways (CTAPP) believes in the importance of practice-rich teacher preparation. Over the past few years, we've supported our Transformation Fellows in aligning their novice teacher coursework to the The Learning Cycle (published by McDonald, Kazemi, and Kavanagh).
CTAPP recently interviewed Maxine Alloway from the University of Washington to gain insight on her experience using practice-based teacher education skills when developing novice teacher candidates. This video blog invites educator preparation programs to examine the lasting impact of practiced-based learning opportunities for teacher candidates with consideration to field diversity, improved retention rates, and a passion for the profession.
